Natural features, geological and physiographic formations, delineated areas that provide habitat for threatened animals and plants, as well as natural areas of scientific, conservation, or aesthetic interest, all fall under the category of natural heritage. Examples of privately and publicly protected natural environments include parks, zoos, aquariums, and botanical gardens. They also include natural habitats, marine ecosystems, sanctuaries, and reservoirs.
